Get your tickets for Alfred Howard. Bringing and eclectic mixture of spoken word, hip hop, and jazz, Alfred Howard's music is as unique and diverse as any artist working today. Backed by his K23 Orchestra, a five piece ensemble consisting of bass, drums, guitar, keys and organ, Al's stage show moves seamlessly from Def Poetry Jam to a jazz fusion experience reminiscent of Miles Davis's Bitches Brew. His socially conscious lyrics inspire comparisons to Nas and Talib Kweli, some of today's new generation of "lyrical freedom fighters". Al describes himself as "an ass**** from New Jersey, scrawny overeater, bitter and disillusioned with the state of things, tired and hungry. Music is my life, period. It has saved me, moved me, comforted me, pushed me and makes every idle moment of my day degrees more interesting." This passion comes through on stage where his 5 minute album tracks become free flowing expressions of soul unregulated by the parameters of commercial, radio friendly music.

With a loyal following, Al Howard and K23 have received much critical acclaim, including winning The San Diego Music Award for Best Hip-Hop Band in consecutive years. They can regularly be seen playing throughout Southern California, sometimes traveling east as far as Colorado in search of new audiences to spread their musical message.

On Thursday, February 1st at 9 p.m., Alfred Howard and K23 will be performing at the historic Orpheum Theater in Flagstaff, AZ. The Orpheum originally opened in 1911 as Flagstaff's first movie theater. Over time and through numerous ownerships, the theater remained virtually unchanged until a complete renovation in 2002. Updates include a new state of the art sound and lighting system, a lounge with full service bar, new comfortable theater style seating and a balcony overlooking the venue. The new capacity is around 1,000 people including the lounge. The Orpheum hosts numerous shows ranging from local to national artists and even special movie screenings.

Also appearing with Alfred Howard will be the funk rock, reggae inspired group, Delta Nove. This Los Angeles sextet has been toiling since 1998, developing their own distinctive sound that had them voted one of the "10 Best Bands to See" by Jambase.com.

Combining the energy and stage presence of these two groups into the intimate setting of the Orpheum Theater will be something to behold, making this one of the hottest tickets to one of the most exciting shows Flagstaff has seen in some time.
