Bob Margolin
Get your tickets for Bob Margolin, the blues guitar player, vocalist, and recording artist, whose legendary style of playing the Chicago Blues has taken him around the world, will be appearing on Thursday (February 22) in Teaneack, NJ at Mexicali Blues. He will be joined on stage by Nappy Brown, Mookie Brill on bass and harp, and Chuck Cotton on the drums. His music captures spirit of what Muddy Waters called Old School Chicago blues.
At the age of twenty-four Bob was a part of Muddy Waters' band. He again played with Muddy Waters and The Band in the classic music documentary, The Last Waltz. His latest album In North Carolina features numbers like Tell Me Why which was originally recorded by Muddy Waters in the fifties, and Natural Blues the T-Bone Walker hit. Bob has recorded one album for Telarc Records, two for Powerhouse, three for Alligator, and one for the Blind Pig label. He also writes a regular column for Blues Revue magazine and contributes to BluesWax.com the on-line magazine. His albums will be available in Teaneack, NJ at Mexicali Blues on Thursday (February 22).
The album In North Carolina was recorded at home rather than in a studio. In it, Bob focus's on his home life and the things that are most important to him. This album is for his family, his friends, his animals, and himself.
These days Bob is touring full-time. On the road he tours with flexible groups of blues musicians, including The Bob Margolin Blues Band, The Bob Margolin All-Star Blues Jam, The Legends of Chicago Blues, and The Muddy Waters Reunion Band.
Bob recently co-produced and wrote the liner notes for the re-issues of Muddy Waters' late-'70s Blue Sky albums for Sony/Legacy. Bob played guitar on those albums. The first Muddy Mississippi Waters Live Legacy Edition was released in September '03 and won a 2004 Handy Award for "Reissue of the Year." Other Muddy Waters albums, Hard Again, I'm Ready, and King Bee were released in May, 2004. Bob is also writing the liner notes for Muddy Waters Classic Concerts, a DVD which includes three of Muddy's shows over 17 years, plus bonus interviews and music.
