BUDDY GUY

Legend has it that shortly before his death, King of the Blues Muddy Waters passed the torch to axeman Buddy Guy, saying, "Don't let them goddam blues die on me." Today, the five-time Grammy Award winner and Rock & Roll hall of Fame inductee keeps the promise alive, bringing his electrifying brand of Chicago blues to dates at the iconic House of Blues in Atlantic City, NJ and Cleveland, OH, as well as the 2007 Playboy Jazz Festival, held in the open-air splendor of the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. (This year's line-up includes Etta James, Dianne Reeves, the Count Basie Orchestra and Terrence Blanchard, with actor/comedian Bill Cosby serving as Master of Ceremonies). While Guy's music is grounded in the legacy of traditional blues, recent collaborations with Carlos Santana and John Mayer have made Guy as commercial and relevant as ever - contact Ticketsmyway.com to reserve your seats now.

Considered an unsurpassed influence to rock virtuosos Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix (eagle-eyed fans of Martinc Scorses's "Lightning In a Bottle" can spot a rapt Hendrix watching from the audience of a raucous Buddy Guy performance), Guy's road to music icon began on an impoverished Louisiana sharecropper's plantation. At age seven, he had created his own makeshift guitar, and by the age of 19, he had abandoned the quiet, rural South for the foreign urban bustle of Chicago. It was there that his musical career flourished under the tutelage of Muddy Waters, who helped him forge a career as a sessions player behind established stars like Howlin' Wolf and Willie Dixon. It was on those recordings that he honed his searing guitar licks and mesmerizingly tortured vocals, and soon Guy was cutting his own albums and inspiring a new generation of artists with his flamboyant rock-influenced blues and distinctive fretwork. As a dazzled Jeff Beck recalls, "I once saw him throw the guitar up in the

air -- and catch it in the same chord." But while 1960's acts like the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and the Yardbirds successfully capitalized on his aggressive techniques, Guy's own career entered a 20 year decline before entering a renaissance in the late 90's with landmark album releases and network television appearances.

Today, his music fans are every bit as unpredictable and eclectic as Guy's own live performances, which flow seamlessly from the deepest blues, to the high-soaring rock solos that have cemented his status as an irrepressible showman. And with the right seats, it's possible to become a part of his extraordinary live performances - Guy is well known for pulling an audience member onstage (typically a beautiful woman) to perform an impromptu guitar duet.
