Dallas Symphony Orchestra
Get your tickets for this wonderful Orchestra event. Housed in the gorgeous Myerson Symphony Center designed by world-renowned architect I.M. Pei, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra is the heart and soul of the city's cultural life. The Center sits on prime real estate in the lively and scenic downtown Dallas Arts District (The Center is bordered by Leonard, Flora and Pearl Streets and by Woodall Rodgers Freeway), and the sleek, modern building-described in the press as "sumptuous" and "glorious"-is the architectural equivalent of the world-class orchestra that calls it home.
With over 325 concert hall events annually, The Dallas Symphony Orchestra offers a wide array of programs with a taste for all musical appetites. Serious aficionados will be drawn to the Classical or the Chamber Music series, running winter through spring (2007 highlights include performances of Mendelssohn's Italian Symphony and Tchaikovsky: Piano Concerto No. 3), while the Pops series offered in the late spring will appeal to the more casual music-lover. The Distinguished Artist Series features esteemed and popular favorites: headliners in the 2007 season include Julio Iglesias and Paul Anka. A Family Concert series provides three great opportunities a year to introduce kids to fun and accessible classics, and the annual Christmas Concert Celebrations are annual traditions. Two-day African-American and Hispanic festivals draw large crowds to explore and enjoy both traditional and modern music from within those cultures. Tickets for any and all of these events can be purchased from Ticketsmyway.com, 1-888-442-4404.
At the Myserson Center, the Symphony performs in McDermott Concert Hall, a state-of-the-art auditorium whose 85-foot-high ceilings allow the music to soar to acoustic perfection for each of the 2,062 seats. But while visiting, allow an extra few minutes to admire the artwork created especially for the site, including De Musica, a massive 68-ton sculpture sitting outside at the entrance to Betty B. Marcus Park, and Dallas Panels, the colorful and lively paintings adorning the Center's northeast wall. Inside the concert hall, you won't be able to miss the Herman W. and Amelia H. Lay Family Concert Organ; rising the full height of the concert hall, it is one of the largest mechanical action organs ever built for performance and features 4,535 pipes. To purchase tickets or for more information, contact us here at Ticketsmyway.com.
