Davis cup has a long and illustrious history starting from the 1900's all the way to the 21st century and is considered one of the great sports of all times.

It is an annual competition where world class players of different countries come together under one arena to play and get a chance to outshine other remarkable players much like themselves. The tournament ends with the winning team crowned as the best in the world.

Back in the early days of its inception, United States came out to be on the top and since then the world has seen many great players come forth and outshine others and take the trophy home. The trophy was originally called "Dwight's little pot," after the name of U.S. statesman Dwight Filley Davis who had put forth the original idea of the tournament. Back at that time the trophy was in the form of a small silver Bowl but now it has attained the position of a prize worth fighting for.

More than hundred countries have now joined in but the real tournament boils down to only 16 remaining. The playing surface has three options. The players can choose from hard-court, grass, and clay each having different effects on the ball. The play can commence with single or double players and there is always a split-screen in the arena to watch the action from directly behind a player. No matter who you are cheering, Davis cup always brings out the best on the players as well the spectators.

Over the years Davis cup has modified itself greatly but the spirit and the reasons remain the same. It has proven to be the bond that maintains constructive relationships among sporting nations and continues to do so.
